New to Yoga?

What do I need to bring to class?

All you really need to bring is your mat.  If you use props, like a strap or blocks, feel free to bring those as well.  It can be a good idea to bring a towel along as well, especially if you would like some extra padding in some poses or if you tend to get sweaty palms/feet while you practice.  You may also bring a water bottle if you wish.

What kind of mat is best?

The best kind of yoga mat is a simple sticky mat - something that you are not going to slip or slide off of.  You do not have to buy the most expensive mat out there, just something that you feel comfortable practicing on.

Can I eat/drink before class?

It is best no to eat large or heavy meals at least an hour before class, as some poses compress the stomach and you don't want to feel uncomfortable or nauseous during class.  Feel free to drink water before class - it is important to stay hydrated!

I'm not flexible, can I still do yoga?

Of course!  We each do what we can each day with the body we have that day.  All we can do is try our best, and our best is ALWAYS good enough!
